President’s Address – Dec. 2016

Fellow agents, it’s hard to believe we are already embarking upon a new year. 2016 has been an encouraging year for our association. This year our membership increased nearly 30%, one of the largest increases ever recorded. I attribute the increase to several factors including our new benefits package now offered through the MGC group. It is such an honor for our board of directors, officers and myself to be able to offer such an outstanding benefits plan for members of our organization.

With the assistance of the MGC group we will soon offer important resources, services and support including human resources, business management and continuing education. If you have not looked into the group benefits program please do so.

This year we got back on schedule with a series of meetings with KFB CEO John Sparrow. I have met with John on at least 4 occasions since August and our management team has met twice in the past few months. Topics have included better options for earthquake coverage, agent compensation, underwriting issues among others. Mr. Sparrow has committed time to meet with our organization in 2017 and beyond. It is very important that we continue to foster a good relationship with our state office but be clear and candid about issues we see as important to agents and agency managers.

I do feel very positive a better option is coming for counties being impacted by earthquake rating issues. I do know there is plenty of work ongoing behind the scenes. Stay tuned .

Another issue to watch closely in 2017 is the auto program. I hope we can turn around what has been a tough stretch of losses. I have a lot of feedback already from agents all across the state regarding rates etc… and we will be communicating those thoughts.

I want to say thanks for those who showed up at our September convention. Your turn out shows how much you care about your professional development and our organization. Of course its impossible to be at every event. So if you missed the September convention, please make plans to join us in the fall of 2017.

I want to say what a pleasure it is to serve as President of this organization and your Federation board representative. I truly appreciate your friendship and look forward to making 2017 the best ever for the Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Agents Association!

Merry Christmas and Happy New year!

Roger Fannin
