Update on Anthem Commission Issue

Good Afternoon all, Here is a brief update on the Anthem Commission issue. Most of you probably know by now that is only affects the off cycle new business, which is the business written April-October. I spoke with Amy Wertz and expressed our concern and the lack of prior communication. I also do believe the state office didn’t appreciate the way the change was communicated.

I was assured by her these changes would not affect new business on the renewal cycles Dec.-Jan. Despite what she says, I’m very concerned that at some point this could happen. I think as a group we need to encourage Company leadership to search out options for the future. As you know this is a very volatile time for the health insurance market and as we get deeper into it, I’m not convinced that we have a solid future as health insurance agents with Anthem. The way this was handled makes me even more doubtful.

I am drafting a letter to Amy Wertz expressing our concern with the reduced commissions on off-cycle policies and will plan to have it to her in just a matter of days.

I have already expressed our concern and disappointment to John Sparrow, Chuck Osborne and Mark Haney. I don’t expect anything more significant to develop on this matter really soon but I will keep you posted.

As usual, if you have any concerns or comments please feel free to pass them on to me.

Roger
