Congratulations to One of Our Own

Beverly Hills Supper ClubOne of our own Association Members has been in the news recently, and we couldn’t be prouder. Bob Webster, KFB agent in the Independence — Kenton County office, does more than write policies for his clients. In fact, he’s just written and published a book on some local history, The Beverly Hills Supper Club Fire. The Untold Story Behind Kentucky’s Worst Tragedy.

In a very readable 320 pages, Bob tells the complete untold story of the events of May 28, 1977, a night when the Beverly Hills Supper Club, located in Southgate, was packed with people enjoying the holiday weekend. Before midnight, more than 120 bodies had been pulled from the burning structure and dozens more would be found the next day in what was the third-worst nightclub fire in our nation’s history. While several employees told investigators about suspicious activities leading up to the inferno, these eye witness accounts were ignored at the time. But thanks to the perseverance of one of them, new research was conducted.

It was Bob’s five-year-long work on that research project that brought this book to press. It’s a fascinating story that includes greed, corruption, deceit, mafia rule, government cover-ups, kidnapping, and murder. We commend Bob for the terrific job he did completing this enormously important publication, and we wish him luck on its success.

Bob, who has been heavily involved in local history, is the author of three other books, two of which won Kentucky History Awards. This, however, was a far more extreme undertaking. Those interested in getting a copy can either go to the publisher’s website or you can email or phone Bob directly (bob_webster@kyfbins.com 859-356-2161).
